Love this...

I've found that as a mother, animals that do 'cute' things in movies or on tv somehow remind me of my children, especially my babies. Not a huge animal lover, but for some reason, there's some emotional, almost nostalgic tie to my babies when I watch something like this...

Do any of you other mamas feel that way?

So where do we start?

I guess with today, since it is what pushed me to finally have a blog.  My sister Melanie always reminds me of funny or interesting things my kids do and asks me if I've written them down. "Um, no." seems to be my typical answer.  So it's time to start writing about this woman's work (that is, family, church, friends, hobbies...you know...life).

We've all been sick this week with various ailments...I won't go into the nasty details, (well, okay, if you insist) except for one.  Tonight Asher, now a whopping 8 months old, finished nursing, so I stood him up on my lap to give him a little, "hey babe", before putting him down for bed.  I could just see his little stomach starting to lurch.  Lucky for me, I caught the first handful in, well, my hand.  Danny was super quick on bowl-duty, so before you knew it, Baby Boy was vomiting in a throw-up bowl just like his big brother and sisters do.  Such a proud moment for a mother.  A little scary too, as I also had my new-ish and very loved MacBook Pro on my lap.  Poor Asher.

Rewind to Sadie and Mollie watching a Dora video.
One girl: Mommy, The Map isn't wearing any clothes!
Me: Uh uh...that's because...he's a rolled up piece of paper.
Other girl: But why doesn't he even wear any underpants?
Me: Umm...I guess because he doesn't have a bottom.

See?  All sorts of wisdom gained from watching characters on a screen.  At least Sadie and Mollie respond when Dora asks them something though.  Jeremy used to just sit and stare at the tv with a blank stare.  Again, the joys of motherhood.  It's amazing how a little interaction between your children and their tv friends can bring a bit of joy.   Thanks Melanie for the inspiration to write things down.
